Grid-connected electric transport
Electric transport that is powered by an electricity grid.
Existing examples include:

Relative to other comparable forms of electric transport, grid-connected transport typically:
- Has a lower unit cost per vehicle, due to reduced need for vehicle-level energy storage and complexity.
- Has a higher infrastructure cost, due to the need for electricity transmission and supply along the route.
- Is much more constrained to particular routes, due to infrastructure requirements.
- Can have greater efficiency, as vehicles carry reduced load related to energy storage and conversion.
Grid-connected electric transport has been in large scale service for [many decades], but nowhere near it's potential.
